Journeying to the Crime of the Century Relaxation Exercise

The Crime of the Century relaxation exercise is sure to give you a revitalizing experience.  Utilizing the methods of meditation and visualization helps alleviate one’s mind of all their problems and worries.  This is such a beneficial exercise to experience especially when you are in need of separating yourself from the outside world and in need of relaxing the mind.  The sound of the music in the background along with the soothing voice of the man will help you feel calm and very relaxed inside and out.  The relation of the colors of the rainbow with parts of the body region and how it all combines together will assist you to stay connected with yourself as well as give you a sense of balance within yourself.  The sense of being grounded will aid you in feeling comfortable and stable.  Feeling centered will improve your confidence and self worth and love, not just by anyone but the world.  Also the sense of positivity will let you feel as if nothing can come between you and take the feelings you are experiencing right now.  Overall this experience will give you a better outlook on life, provide you with stronger will power and creativity along with granting you the feeling of positivity that you are able to accomplish anything in life and that you are a strong person.  This will also give a better outlook to the meaning in life.  I loved the experience and the bonding between the colors and the world.  It was a feeling of balance and connection.  You will feel at peace.

My Journey of Exercises/Activities Implemented to Assist Moving Towards Each of My Goals

For my physical and spiritual well being, I just need to continue what I am doing which is keeping my spiritual faith, remaining physically active through exercises and by eating healthy.  As for my psychological well-being, I need to better manage my stressors and incorporate more relaxation techniques into my life.  I need to better manage my time and make it a daily requirement.  Also, utilize the help and support from my family and friends to help assist with giving me the time to incorporate this routine daily.

Goals Towards Journeying My Physical, Spiritual, and Psychological Well-being

Physical Well-being:  To maintain a physically active and healthy lifestyle.

Spiritual Well-being:  To follow the direction of my ultimate reality and trust in him completely.

Psychological Well-being:  To better manage my daily stressors and incorporate daily relaxation techniques.

Journey Reflecting My Physical, Spiritual, and Psychological Well-being

Based on my reflections on a scale from 1 to 10 with 10 being of optimal well being, I consider my physical well-being rated as a 9.  I say this because I am physically active in my life by incorporating physical exercise in my daily routine as well as incorporating healthy eating habits within my diet and my families.  Also, I take good physical care of health by seeing the doctor regularly and as needed.  However I have a disability which I contracted due to a head injury I encountered in my past experience.  I must take regular medications in order to stabilize it from affecting me.  Because of this disability I cannot rate myself as a perfect 10 in my physical well-being.

As for my spiritual well-being, I would rate myself a perfect 10 because I have my Christian faith to spiritually fill my needs.   My spirituality helps alleviate the problems that out of my control.  My spirituality helps bring me together and feel a sense of belonging and helps me to connect with my community.  My spiritual faith helps me strengthen my outlook towards all of the aspects in my life.

As for my psychological well-being, this is my weakest point.  Therefore I would rate myself in the middle being at least a 5.  I say this because I have a difficult time managing my daily stressors from school and I feel mentally drained with all of the school work I have to do.  Also, I have a difficult time relaxing with all the daily stressors and activities I have to endure.

Reflecting on Journeying to a More Relaxing State of Mind

Everyone has their way of relieving stress.  In fact a great way to relieve stress is by relaxing.  There are many types of relaxing techniques in which an individual can do or implement to help relieve and manage their daily stresses in their life.  However finding the right one can be difficult.  My journey on relaxation experience with Dacher (2006) has surely made my day.  He provides a fantastic tool for individuals who are stressed and needs a technique to help them relax through the ways of breathing, visualizing and releasing.  This tool helps promote relaxation and helps calm one’s mind, body, and spirit.  But most importantly it helps one clear the mind of unwanted or distracting thoughts and allows room for other factors that are more important and rewarding to one’s life that actually deserves the attention.  This experience is so refreshing and full of relaxation that it will make you feel like doing nothing else but relaxing and spending time with your family, friends or just being by yourself.  The background music along with the calming voice of the man speaking can surely soothe one’s mind.  As I focus on the sounds and words being spoken, I feel myself lying peacefully.  Also, the sounds helped me let loose and disappear to a place peace and quiet where I have no worries and nothing can hurt me.  It helped me focus more into my life and the goals ahead of me.  I felt I am able to accomplish anything.  I can release all my frustrations and any problems I have.  Nothing can interfere or hurt me anymore.  I feel at whole with myself and I am no longer lost.  Overall, I feel revitalized and feel a sense of wholeness within me.  Loved the experience and will try and incorporate it when I am feeling frustrated, overwhelmed or stressed.   Definately an experience beneficial to share with the family.

Reflective Statement: Beginning the Journey to a Better Quality of Life Through Forgiveness

Some of the stressors we encounter are from individual’s we care about such as our family and friends.  Also, some of the stressors we encounter are emotional which makes us angry and frustrates us.  And when we are angry and frustrated, we tend to let our emotions take the best of us and let it eat us up.  Therefore Seaward (2009) reports of a coping skill that is quite effective, it is called forgiveness.    Forgiveness is defined as “A coping technique for anger-related stressors for which a shift in attitude is adopted toward those against whom a grudge was previously held” (Seaward, 2009, p. 330).  Meaning, it is a way of curing our anger.  Having said that, forgiveness is considered an effective coping skill because when we forgive, we are able to let go of the stress of what has happened and we can easily move on with our life.  In addition, when we forgive, we are helping our inner selves by letting go.  Furthermore, forgiveness is considered an internal healing process in which we are able to come into terms with stressful issues and find peace not for the individual we forgave but for ourselves.  However, forgiving is not an easy thing to do.  Some individual’s have too much pride and are stubborn like me and holds a grudge.  But by swallowing one’s pride and forgiving one another, we can find inner peace within our body, mind and soul.  Overall, when we forgive, we are no longer considered victims but survivors.

Welcome Statement

Hi Everyone,

First of all, I would like to welcome you all as we journey to the new, better, and healthier you.  My name is Diana Davis.  I am currently residing and living in Germany.  I am originally born and raised from a small island called Guam.    I have three children and a wonderful husband.  I love spending time with my family and doing anything and everything with them.  I love traveling as a family and enjoy learning and teaching them all the wonderful things that life has to offer together.  I like to be a positive role model towards my children as well as my peers by incorporating a physically active lifestyle along with incorporating healthy eating habits and behavior. Yet we cannot solely focus on improving the physical aspects of our lives, we must also focus on improving and managing the daily stressors in our minds and souls in order to achieve complete total wellness.   I strongly believe by doing so, one can benefit the joys of a long and prosperous life.
